Prayer

I'm not sure this is what I think God looks like. It's the best I could come up with, I guess.
--
Ni si quiera yo estoy segura de si es así como creo que Dios se ve. Es lo mejor que se me ocurrió, pues.

Job Interview

Part of a project I was working on for Experimental Animation. This was part of a set of (failed) experiments, and might or might not be finished later. I think I had a pretty good story in mind, so I'll keep it (it involved KITTENS, okay?). Food for thought, I guess?
--

This city rain

This was created for a competition to freshen the look of electrical boxes (electrical kiosks?) in downtown Vancouver.  My proposal wasn't chosen, but I had a lot of fun working on it, and I think it looks pretty cute.

ECUAD Bumper

First assignment for Motion Graphics class. I’m quite satisfied with this, although I’m not very happy with the floaty animation/ frankensteined music/ awful frame rate messes.

The Valiant Little Tailor

The Valiant Little Tailor, for the Social Illustration blog
This was supposed to be my entry for the Art Order’s Grimm Tales Challenge thingie I am a terrible procrastinator, so I didn’t make the deadline :< However, here it is! I’m kind of happy with how it looks :3

My Happy Place

Submission for 27pm’s April Jam “My Happy Place”. Construction paper cut outs and tons of photoshopping. Also, make sure you check out everyone else’s submissions. There’s really good work going on there.

I managed to finish, and it didn’t take as long as I thought it would. Makes me feel bad for getting rid of some characters that might’ve added a lot to the composition. Oh well.
Also, I’m not entirely happy with the text. I never am. FONTS Y U SO TRICKY!?
Like I said before, 27 pm is a Salvadoran illustration collective. They have tons of really cool things going on, so try to keep up with them! They’re pretty awesome, and very talented.

For Great Justice!

Propaganda poster for Illustration: Methods and Genres
If you've ever heard of the 'All your base meme', well, it's a reference to that, silly.

Our Lady of Winehouse

Final:

Amy Winehouse, for Illustration: Methods & Genres.
This was before she passed away, and I actually thought she was getting her act together. I know I didn't know her, and can't judge her, but I can't help but think that being involved in such a demanding industry while her health was so weak had a lot to do with her passing.

Mary Blair

Perhaps my favorite artist OF ALL TIME. I love love love her work <3
Assignment for Illustration: Methods & Genres

Part of Our Lives

Voice over by Lou Papa, who doesn't really use that much hair product.

Part of Our Lives Development

Character development for THIS animation. Based on my classmate Lou, for 2D Animation II.

Captain Hook

Captain Hook, for Illustration: Methods & Genres with  the amazing Durwin Talon! Man, this was fun to make :D
This took me a while to make, and I used watercolours, cutout paper, photoshop, popsicle sticks, and markers.

Hand studies

Hand studies for Drawing for Animation class, part of character development from script for Esmeralda (from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).

Guinea Pig Development

Character development for a Drawing for Animation class.
She was supposed to be a guinea pig princess on a quest to save Peru, but she looks more like a pet, really. I want to revamp her and make her a legit savior princess!

I have this thing for blogs

Hi, I'm Karla.
Up until now, I've been posting my art things and my process to my Tumblr account. I will keep doing that, but I thought I also needed a more serious spot to publish them (because you know, all those reblogs and stuff). I'm not too fond of blogger, but I like keeping all my google accounts together and blah blah blah procrastination blah blah blah. For now, I think I'll post what I believe are the most relevant doodles from my now-ex-art-blog.

Cheers.
