This is part of a group assignment for a concept illustration class I took this semester. The class was pleasant and fun enough, but I wish I'd taken it before, and not during my last semester at school. I didn't dedicate enough time to it! The assignment was to redesign the story of the Wizard of Oz, and my team decided to go for a theme inspired in Islamic art.
We didn't get it right at all, but it was a fun project to work on.
So, these are roughs and a somewhat final rendering of the Emerald City of Oz, inspired by Abassid architecture and Moorish art (which I don't think I got well enough, but dang I tried).
